Puppy School
Eligibility
Puppies can start our classes after their first vaccination, and are welcome up until 4 months of age. Classes are open to everyone, not just Vogue Vets and Wellness clients.
To Book Your Spot into our Puppy Classes
Classes are held at the practice on Monday evenings at 6:00pm.
If we reach capacity (as we like no more than 6 pups per class), there is scope for us to create an extra class on the weekend.
To enroll, fill out the enrolment form located below.
Once enrolled, we’ll call you to take payment, and you’ll receive a welcome email providing you with more details about what to bring with you to the classes.
Note: If your puppy is showing signs of sickness, please either contact us or your regular vet for medical advice, and stay at home to avoid any spread of infection to other puppies in the class. Please avoid attending classes until your puppy is well again.
Did You Know?
- Puppies can start safe socialisation before their vaccinations are complete. While it’s important to avoid high-risk areas like dog parks, well-run puppy classes and controlled environments offer a safe way to start critical early learning.
- The socialisation window closes fast — usually by 16 weeks of age. This is when puppies are most receptive to new experiences, sights, sounds, and friendly faces. Positive exposure now helps prevent fear and anxiety later in life.
- Low-risk socialising includes meeting calm adult dogs, people of different ages, and experiencing new sounds and surfaces.
Even a walk in a pram or visits to a friend’s yard can help your puppy build confidence — without unnecessary risk.
What makes our Puppy Classes Special?
Our classes promote positive reinforcement techniques, and we welcome (in fact we encourage!) the entire family to participate.
Having a well trained and social dog will enhance your family life in the long term and we’re passionate about helping to you achieve this.
The course includes:
- FIVE (5) weeks of training & personalised advice with our amazing and fully qualified dog trainer, Cali. Our course is slightly longer, with all 5 sessions including your puppy in class, allowing you ample time to learn in class & then practice the skills at home. This additional support will help you to get things right before graduation.
- ONE HOUR of fully immersive & in person classes with a maximum of 6 puppies per class, ensuring that our trainer can focus on coaching your pup’s individual behaviours
- Disinfection of the premises prior to classes for your puppy to learn & play in a clean & safe environment, minimising any risks to your puppy
- Positive reinforcement & treats to help create a fun and happy experience for your puppy
- Take home notes/homework each week to assist you in implementing the training in between classes
- Graduation certificate after successfully completing the sixth lesson
- A lot of fun and opportunities for you and your pup to make new friends!

- How to socialise well with puppies of different sizes and breeds

Enrolment
- Treats are provided and will be pork based. Please notify Vogue Vets and Wellness Centre staff if your puppy has any allergies. We ask that you please provide your own treats if your puppy cannot eat the treats we provide.
- Puppies must be carried to and from the facility as it is not safe for them to walk on the ground outdoors when not fully vaccinated.
- Clients may be asked to remove their shoes on entering the class area to comply with the safety of the unvaccinated pups in the class. Please ensure you are wearing socks for this reason. Alternatively you may be asked to sanitise your shoes on a disinfected mat as you enter the premises.
- It is important that you DO NOT feed your puppy in the hours leading up to the class time. Puppies with full tummies develop selective hearing! We want the puppies to be keen for their treats so we can reinforce what we are teaching them.
- By completing the enrolment form below, you are consenting to the Terms & Conditions outlined in the form.
- The total cost for the 5 week course is $230
Puppy Preschool Terms & Conditions
Thank you for entrusting your puppies training into our hands and welcome to our classes!
Please read the following information and feel free to ask any questions prior to signing this form.
Puppies have a critical period of socialisation between 6 – 16 weeks of age. Puppies that do not experience adequate socialisation during this time are more likely to develop problems with social behaviour such as fear aggression, reactivity and low confidence.
Vaccinations
Puppies require a course of vaccinations and immunity is not complete until the course is finished. However, the vaccination course falls into the same time frame as the puppy’s socialisation window. Therefore, there needs to be a compromise made between socialisation to prevent behaviour problems, and isolation to prevent infections.
The risk of infection is minimised by:
- Having a primary (or temporary) vaccination before socialisation.
- Socialising ONLY with other vaccinated puppies or adult dogs.
- Socialising in clean environments (ie. not in public areas or grassed / outdoor areas).
- For protection of all puppies, please avoid all public areas until the completion of your puppy course.
Injuries
Puppy play and socialisation can be boisterous, occasionally injuries can occur.
Behaviour
Puppy behaviour is complex and influenced by many factors including socialisation, genetics and the environment. Puppy classes do not guarantee a perfectly behaved dog, although they are the first step in the right direction for your puppy.
Socialisation and training must continue throughout the dog’s entire life.
The minimal risk associated with puppy classes held in a controlled environment must be weighed up by individual owners against the potential for social and behaviour development problems.
