Advanced Diagnostic Imaging: Abdominal Ultrasound & Basic Echocardiography

We are excited to now offer in‑house abdominal ultrasound and basic echocardiography, performed by our dedicated ultrasonographer using state‑of‑the‑art imaging technology.
Ultrasound is a safe, non‑invasive and radiation‑free diagnostic tool that provides real‑time insight into your pet’s internal organs — helping us diagnose conditions quickly, accurately, and without the need for exploratory surgery in many cases.

Abdominal Ultrasound

Our comprehensive abdominal scans allow detailed assessment of the major organs and structures, including:

  • Liver, gallbladder & biliary system
  • Spleen
  • Kidneys & adrenal glands
  • Stomach, intestines & pancreas
  • Bladder, prostate/uterus/ovaries
  • Major abdominal blood vessels & lymph nodes

Abdominal ultrasound is particularly valuable for investigating:

  • Unexplained vomiting or diarrhoea
  • Weight loss, reduced appetite or general malaise
  • Abdominal pain, swelling or distension
  • Urinary problems, including blood in the urine
  • Suspected organ enlargement or masses
  • Fluid accumulation within the abdomen
  • Pre‑surgical planning

Basic Echocardiography (Cardiac Ultrasound)

We also provide focused echocardiography to evaluate your pet’s heart in real time. This includes assessment of:

  • Heart chamber size and wall thickness
  • Valve structure and function
  • Blood flow patterns using Doppler technology
  • Pericardial effusion and other structural abnormalities

Basic cardiac ultrasound is particularly helpful for:

  • Investigating heart murmurs
  • Coughing, exercise intolerance or breathing difficulties
  • Pre‑anaesthetic cardiac screening (especially in senior or at‑risk breeds)
  • Monitoring known heart conditions

Having these advanced diagnostics available right here in our clinic means:

  • Faster results
  • Less stress for your pet
  • Earlier treatment decisions
  • No need for referral in many cases
  • A smoother, more coordinated care experience

Our experienced veterinary and diagnostic team will guide you through every step, ensuring you understand the findings and treatment options.
